INHERITANCE
Morgenstern's inheritence, his papers, is kept in the Deutschen Exilarchiv 1933-1945 of the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek in Frankfurt am Main (The German Exile Archive of the German National Library inFrankfurt/Main). The Exile Collections are under the direction of Dr. Sylvia Asmus.
In 1996 a co-operation has started between the German Exile Archive and John Spalek. John Spalek is an important pioneer in researching the German-speaking exile literatur1. In the framework of this co-operation Spalek helped to arrange that Dan Morgenstern transferred his fathers inheritance to the German Exile Archive.
Soma Morgensterns inheritance in the Exile Archive contains 3.820 entities: Publications, manuskripts, Fotos, documents and letters to SM (and partly also in own copy copies from SM). The partners of SM's correspondance are retrievable via: http://d-nb.info/974501980/about/html .
Next to the state in Frankfurt there is also a small "Soma Morgenstern Collection AR 6350" in the Leo Baeck Institute in New York. This collecation contains note books with the (final) manuscript for the book "Die Blutsäule". (The Third Pillar) Cfl. http://findingaids.cjh.org/?pID=481409 .
